The Executive Committee and Board of Directors represent the governing body of FSBA and meets four times annually to establish positions and provide direction on major issues that directly impact the Association's activities. The Board of Directors is composed of five executive officers (The Executive Committee), twenty-four directors representing geographical districts in the state, and FSBA members who serve as officers or on the Board of Directors of the National School Boards Association or the Southern Region School Boards Association. Directors from the geographical districts serve two-year staggered terms.
FSBA Executive Officers are elected annually by the general membership and include the President, President-Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, and the Immediate Past Presdient. The FSBA Executive Director serves as an ex-officio member of the Executive Committee.
Action committees and various operating committees, as determined by the FSBA President and by the Bylaws, assist the Board of Directors and Executive Officers to lead FSBA towards its strategic directions which include impacting legislation, developing effective board members, advocating for public education, and providing effective and efficicient operations within FSBA. Some of these committees include Legislative; Long Range Planning; Finance; Bylaws and Procedures; Board Member Development; and, the Florida School Boards Insurance Trust (FSBIT). All school board members are encouraged to serve on at least one committee and to become an active member of the FSBA leadership team.
