PROGRAM INITIATED: January 1992
AUDIENCE:
District Leadership Team - School Board Members and the Superintendent
PARTICIPATION:
Voluntary - Leadership teams must file a "letter of intent to participate" form and the participation fee (or purchase order) with the FSBA Office for admission to the program
PURPOSE:
- To focus on the school board and the superintendent as a collective unit and develop their ability to work effectively as a governance team
- To learn and practice skills for effective team functioning
- To identify areas for leadership development through self-evaluation of the leadership team
CURRICULUM:
Leadership - Skills-Based; 10 hours of required curriculum and 12 hours of elective curriculum in which leadership teams identify and design the curriculum based on their perceived needs
LEVEL OF INVOLVEMENT: Operational - Using and applying knowledge, skills, and processes attained during training sessions
DELIVERY SYSTEM:
One forum (10 hours) with a prescribed curriculum for all program participants and three (3) onsite workshops (4 hours each) for individual leadership teams utilizing customized modules delivered by FSBA trained facilitators
PROGRAM PARTICIPATION FEE: $3,000.00 + travel expenses of the leadership team to attend the forum

ATTENDANCE POLICY:
- A majority of the school board members of a leadership team must be in attendance for the duration of the Master Board Forum and onsite workshops for credit to be received in the Master Board Program

Only school board members who complete 75% of the Master Board Program (i.e., at least 16½ hours of the training) are eligible to receive a Master Board Lapel Pin and to have their names inscribed on the Master Board Plaque
